I received my Nintendo Switch on March 3rd, 2017, and have been playing games on it every now and then. It’s been great fun so far. As such, I think it is more than time for me to write about my initial impressions with the device.
If you’re on the fence at the moment: grab it. The list of upcoming releases is fantastic, and what is already out is excellent as well.
Note: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is pretty much a required purchase! Personally, I’ve had tons of fun with Mario Kart as well (and I’ve never been a Mario Kart guy!).
The thing that blows me away each time I play on the damn thing is just how good this device is as a mobile handheld. (It’s also lots of fun docked, by the way. The docking experience is also great!)
If you’ve read my previous posts, you know I love the 3DS and the PS Vita, even though they are not mainstream at all, since most people play mobile games on their smartphones nowadays.
This is a great alternative, and you should consider picking it up if you want a console you can play on your TV as well as on the go.1
I am aware that you can play the PS4 on the PS Vita using Remote Play, but it just isn’t the same. I can’t Remote Play without an internet connection. I can just take my Switch with me and play whatever, no internet required. ↩
