How I Won NaNoWriMo

November 30, 2012

SPOILER ALERT: IT ISN'T EASY. NO REAL SPOILERS THOUGH. Let me tell you something. When you start, it's just 1600 words a day. Those final days, especially if it is your first time, it's usually a bit more or a bit less, depending on how you've done. I noticed the first time I attempted NaNo (in 2011) that it was very difficult to write 1.6k words a day. But it was not impossible. Even throughout this busy period I was able to do what was absolutely necessary -- it involved staying up until 1, 2AM almost on a daily basis, but I was able to accomplish my goal. Let me give you a bunch of tips for when you are attempting this. Write your damn quota. Write your damn quota. And finally, write your damn quota. Failed to write your quota? Catch up. If necessary, do a write-10k-words-day. Trust me, you'll make it this way.
